Old ratchet clasp in 18 carat (750 thousandths) yellow gold, hallmark present, probably a ram's head in use between 1819 and 1838. French regional work from Provence, from the first half of the 19th century around 1830. It is in the shape of a sphere hollow, decorated with a fine openwork cannetille decoration with a beautiful relief. Its ends are decorated with the original rings (not welded).
This type of sentiment clasp was generally given at weddings and was part of the creation of 'bond necklaces'.

Very good general condition. With light traces of use: micro scratches, shocks, oxidation of the gold on the flat side facade opposite the moving part of the clasp. It closes very well and remains securely clipped, with lateral movement. Rare collectible jewel, which is around 200 years old, full of charm, with a rich and fine decoration.
